How we handle your data

Omelette Studio is a small design studio based in Vancouver, BC. We collect what you send us through our brief forms (name, email, company, project context) and use it to respond to your inquiry. We don't sell your data, don't run ad trackers, and don't use cookies on this site. The few third parties we rely on — Formspree, Vercel, Google Fonts — are listed below. Email gonzalo@theomelette.ca any time to access, correct, or delete what we have on you.
Who we are
Omelette Studio is operated by G.H. Omelette Studio Inc., a company incorporated in British Columbia, Canada. We are the data controller for any personal information collected through www.theomelette.ca, and we operate under the laws of British Columbia.
What we collect
Information you give us
When you submit a brief on /pre-call-brief or /pre-kickoff-brief, or email us directly, we receive whatever you put in those fields. That typically includes:
- Your name and email address
- Your company name and stage
- Project context: product description, users, goals, constraints, links to existing materials, and similar background
Information collected automatically
We use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to measure aggregate traffic and page performance. Both are cookieless and do not track you across other sites. They record the page you visited, your approximate location at country level, your device type, and standard page performance numbers. No personal identifiers are stored.
How we use it
We use the information you submit to:
- Respond to your inquiry and prepare for our conversation
- Decide whether we're a good fit, and propose engagement terms if we are
- Follow up if a project gets paused or revisited
We use analytics data to understand what's working on the site (which pages people land on, what loads slowly) so we can improve it. We do not use this data to build user profiles or to target you with advertising.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data. We share it only with the small set of service providers that make this site work:
- Formspree — receives and forwards your brief submissions to our inbox. See Formspree's privacy policy.
- Vercel — hosts the site and provides cookieless analytics and performance metrics. See Vercel's privacy policy.
- Google Fonts — serves the typefaces used on the site. Google may log your IP address when your browser requests a font. See Google's privacy policy.
- unpkg / Cloudflare — serves the React JavaScript library loaded on the homepage. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
We may also share information when required by law, to enforce our agreements, or to protect our rights, your rights, or anyone's safety.
International transfers
The providers above operate servers outside of Canada (primarily in the United States and the European Union). By submitting a brief or using this site, you understand that your information may be processed in those jurisdictions, which may have data protection laws different from your own.
How long we keep it
Brief submissions are retained for up to 24 months after your last contact with us, then deleted. If we end up working together, project-related information is kept for the duration of the engagement plus seven years to satisfy Canadian record-keeping requirements. Aggregate analytics data has no personal identifiers and follows Vercel's default retention.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can email us at gonzalo@theomelette.ca to:
- Ask what personal information we have on you
- Correct anything that's wrong
- Have it deleted
- Get a copy in a portable format
- Withdraw consent for future processing
Depending on where you live, additional rights may apply under the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), or Quebec's Law 25. We honor all of them. We aim to respond to requests within 30 days.
If you're in the EU/UK and believe we've mishandled your data, you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Cookies and tracking
This site does not use cookies. We do not run advertising trackers, social pixels, session replay tools, or cross-site identifiers. The third-party services above may set their own cookies on the requests they handle (for example, a CDN edge cookie), but we don't use any of them to track or profile visitors.
Children
This site is intended for adults engaging in commercial inquiries. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information, please contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For substantial changes that affect how we handle information you've already submitted, we'll reach out by email.
